ITWM: What inspired you, or what was your motivation to start your business?
Delicia Fellers: People often ask how fashion became significant in my life. Like any diva, I’ve always loved beautiful things and want every woman to feel beautiful, too. For many, that feeling starts with embracing their own personal style. However, for me, it wasn’t always easy. From 1st grade through high school, I was required to wear a uniform every single day, which made it hard to express my individuality. Everything changed during my first year of college. I felt exhilarated by the freedom to choose my clothes, purses, jewelry, and shoes—oh, glorious shoes! As I discovered my natural talent and "eye" for fashion, I began offering style advice to my friends and family. I secretly loved playing the role of an image consultant. After years of helping others and honing my passion, Diva Designs Boutique was born. I’m proud to share my carefully curated fashion selections with you. Welcome to Diva Designs Boutique!
Challenges & Success in Business
ITWM: What was your biggest challenge starting your business? How do you remain successful in it? Knowing what you know now, would you change anything about how you began your business or currently operate?
Delicia Fellers: The biggest challenge when starting my business was marketing—specifically, finding products that would stand out among the thousands of other online boutiques. Looking back, I would have invested more in marketing, advertising, and networking.
ITWM: What has been your biggest challenge as a business owner, and how did you overcome it?
Delicia Fellers: The most significant challenges as a business owner are updating the website with new inventory and finding time to model the clothes, take pictures, and post/advertise on all the boutique's social media platforms. I haven't completely overcome this challenge yet, but I'm setting aside time for marketing and advertising with the hope of hiring someone to assist with these tasks.

Delicia Fellers: Success in my business means building a loyal customer base, offering high-quality products that people love, and creating a brand that stands out for its authenticity and customer service. It’s about consistently growing, both in terms of sales and brand recognition, while maintaining a positive impact on the community and staying true to my vision.

ITWM: What advice would you give someone looking to enter your industry or self-employment?
Delicia Fellers: My advice would be to focus on building a strong brand identity and understanding your target audience. It’s important to stay consistent with your vision while being adaptable to change. Don’t underestimate the power of marketing and networking—invest time in learning how to promote your business effectively.
Also, be prepared for the hard work and dedication it takes to run a business, and remember that success doesn’t come overnight. Most importantly, be passionate about what you do, and always keep learning and growing.
